Bringing The Arts To Our Young People
One of the most rewarding moments in life is to see a child’s eyes sparkle with wonder and delight. Live theatre makes it happen and providing our young people with enriching theatrical experiences is a crucial part of The Laguna Playhouse’s mission.
Our involvement in education has grown and matured over the years into a much-acclaimed, thoughtfully integrated array of programs that enhance the lives and stimulate the minds of young people throughout our community.
The Laguna Playhouse offers a range of education and community programs inspired by the belief that the unleashing of the imagination through the arts is crucial to the development of both mind and soul.
TheatreReach: Bringing Books to Life is an innovative program that tours professional productions into our schools with one-hour stage adaptations of books in the school curriculum. For talented young people with a thirst for a hands-on theatrical experience, The Laguna Playhouse Youth Conservatory offers a small-enrollment, high-level program of instruction in theatre skills. Those skills are put to direct practical use in our Youth Theatre Season, which welcomes children to the Moulton Theatre to enjoy professionally led productions designed to enchant. For those old enough to be discovering life’s challenges and complexities, Theatre For a New Generation offers issue-oriented plays that spur thought and constructive discussion. Professionally taught Classes and Workshops offer yet more avenues for young people in our community to explore the magic of theatre in a stimulating yet entertaining way.
The Laguna Playhouse, with the support of its donors, remains committed to providing young people with opportunities to experience theatre as entertainment, enrichment and enlightenment in different ways, according to age, interest, need and ability.
