2008-2009 Season

September 9 – October 12, 2008

Director Rick Sparks

Rick Sparks has won major Theatre Awards for his work as a Director, Writer, Producer, Actor, Sound Designer and Choreographer. His adaptation and staging of They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? was the undisputed hit of its season, dancing away with 17 wins. The following year Rick achieved the same success with the rock n roll epic, A Clockwork Orange, which garnered his second LA Drama Critics Circle Award for Direction. Other favorites include the Colony Theatre’s production of Clutter, the original LA premieres of Charles Busch’s Psycho Beach Party and John Patrick Shanley’s Where’s My Money?. New York discovered Sparks directing the well-reviewed Off-Broadway subversive comedy smash, Down South. Last December, Dead Bride Running closed after a long run in Hollywood, where this multimedia comedy had Rick directing, co-writing/producing the saga of wide eyed ‘Runaway Bride,’ Jennifer Willbanks. And on Valentine’s Day of ‘09, Rick’s direction and choreography will marry with Divorce, The Musical!, written by Erin Kamler.
